Brakes

Pads, rotors and brake inspection.

Brakes are the one system you can’t put off. We inspect them, tell you what we find and replace worn pads and rotors.

What we do

  • Brake inspections
  • Brake pad replacement
  • Rotor replacement

Signs your brakes need attention

  • Squealing or squeaking when you stop
  • Grinding or scraping. Have this checked right away.
  • The pedal feels soft or sinks closer to the floor
  • The car pulls to one side when you brake
  • Shaking in the steering wheel or pedal when you stop
  • The brake warning light is on

How brake wear shows up

Most brake pads have a small metal tab, called a wear indicator, that touches the rotor when the pad gets thin. That’s the high-pitched squeal you hear when you brake. If you hear grinding instead, the pad material may be gone and metal is touching metal, which can damage the rotors quickly.

Pads and rotors

Pads press against the rotors to stop the car. Rotors can wear thin or warp over time, which causes a pulsing pedal or a shaking steering wheel when you stop. Sometimes the rotors can stay and only the pads need replacing; we measure them and tell you which.

How long it takes

A brake inspection is quick, and many pad and rotor jobs are done the same day. We give you a time estimate with your quote, and we tell you what needs doing now and what can wait.
