Signs you need new tires

• The tread is worn down. Pennsylvania requires at least 2/32 of an inch of tread to pass inspection.
• Cracks, bulges or cuts in the sidewall
• Vibration at highway speed
• You keep adding air to the same tire
• Uneven wear on the inside or outside edge, which often points to an alignment problem

Reading your tire size

Your tire size is printed on the sidewall, for example 225/60R16. The first number is the width in millimeters, the second is the sidewall height as a percentage of the width, and the last number is the wheel size in inches. Bring that number, or the year, make and model of your car, when you call for a quote.

Make your tires last

• Check the pressure once a month, when the tires are cold. The right pressure is on the sticker inside the driver’s door, not on the tire.
• Rotate your tires regularly so they wear evenly.
• Get the alignment checked if the car starts to pull.

How long it takes

Mounting and balancing a set of four usually takes about an hour once the tires are here.

New tires are a good time for a wheel alignment, so they wear evenly and last longer.
